

The Psalter Lane Nursery is a 48-place day nursery for children aged 12 months – 5 years. Our core hours are from 9.00am-3.30pm Monday to Friday, with options for breakfast club at 8.00am and up to 5.00pm for after nursery club 38 weeks of the year.
- The standard core funded sessions we offer parents are based on 3 hour morning and 3 hour afternoon sessions.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES
We always ask parents to supply us with nappies and wipes for their child, along with suncream In the Summer months. We will always request replenishment of these items when we are running low. Should Parents not arrange this after being asked, a charge will be made if we have to use our own supplies of nappies, baby wipes and suncream.

- All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours of Funded Early Learning (FEL) per week during term time, 38 weeks, which is at no cost to the parents.
- Some 2 year old children are eligible for 15 Funded Early Learning (2YR FEL) per week during term time. Please visit the Sheffield City Council website and search for Funded education and childcare for 2 year olds.
- From September 2025, there is Government funded financial support for working parents of children from the age of 9 months. This is the Working Parent Entitlement (WPE) However, at the Psalter Lane Nursery, the earliest we accept children is from the age of 12 months. Funding for 38 weeks is available for eligible working parents of up to 30 hours per week. If you feel that you may be eligible for the new funding, please visit childcarechoices.gov.uk . A valid code will be needed to prove eligibility.
Funded Hours
- At The Psalter Lane Nursery you can use your 15 hour FEL or up to 30 hours with WPE,during the core morning or afternoon sessions (5 x morning or 5 x afternoon sessions or a combination of both). Parents do not need to use all their funding and may use over it over more than one setting.
- If you require a full day (2 x sessions) then there is a charge for the lunch time supervision cover 12.00pm -12.30pm (lunch is not provided).
- FEL does not cover any lunch time supervision cover costs.
- Funding does not cover Breakfast club, Activity School, early starts and any sessions after 3.30pm.
- You can choose to collect your child at 12.00pm and bring them back to nursery at 12.30pm to incur no charge.
- Any extra sessions required outside of the approved sessions, must be booked in advance with at least 24 hours’ notice required. This is to ensure that we comply with ratio numbers. Extra ad hoc sessions cannot be claimed as extra funding, should parents not be using their full funded sessions for that term.
- Parents are responsible for renewing their eligibility codes. Prompts are sent out by HMRC. Please note that nursery will be unable to access funding without an up to date and valid code and parents will be charged if funding ceases.
Activity School
The Psalter Lane Nursery offers Activity School in some School holidays 9.00am – 3.30pm. This will only run if there is sufficient demand. Fees are charged separately for Activity School and are payable in advance before the start date. We do not offer the stretched offer to include FEL/WPE in Activity School.
FEL Terms and Conditions
If you take a family holiday during the 38 funded weeks, only 4 weeks of your holiday will be funded each year. If you wish to take additional holidays and you would like us to keep your child’s place open, then we will need to charge you for any session not covered by the Funded Early Learning. Alternatively, you can reapply for a place at nursery when you return to Sheffield, although a place cannot always be guaranteed.
If you wish to leave nursery and or change provider midway through the term, you will be asked to give 4 weeks’ notice. Please note that scheduled Nursery holidays are not included within the 4 weeks. Within this notice period you will not be able to claim FEL/WPE at another provider and you will be liable for any paid sessions.
We will ask you to sign a Parental Agreement Form and pattern of attendance at the start of each year, this is to confirm you agree and understand the terms and conditions including any charges and how many FEL/WPE hours per week and weeks of term you intend to claim at The Psalter Lane Nursery and if you are claiming any hours at another setting. A new form will need to be completed for any changes.
Your child must attend regularly and for the full core sessions they are booked in for to access the funding.
Regular non-attendance may result in nursery sessions being reduced or funded sessions being removed.
Please note:
- 4 weeks’ notice is required to change any booked sessions or change of provider. This is to assist with the processing of invoices during the payment cycle.
- Booked sessions will still be charged for if your child cannot attend for any reason.
- Bank Holidays will be charged for and FEL/WPE funding will be claimed for children whose pattern of attendance shows they would normally attend on these days.
- No refunds are given for non-attendance of paid sessions.
- A refundable £100.00 cash deposit is required to secure your secure your child’s place at nursery.
- For FEL children, a minimum of 2 sessions are required for 2 year olds and under. And, a minimum of 3 sessions are required for 3 year olds and over.
- Funded sessions must be attended regularly and for the full core session. We offer a slightly earlier start and finish time at a charge to support parents to do this.
- All extra sessions must be booked at least 24 hours in advanced and will be charged for. Ie breakfast club, early start, late finish etc
- Any unauthorised late collections will be charged accordingly.
- We are unable to swap sessions due to illness, appointments, celebrations etc due to working within staff ratios.
